DBS checks are particularly important to organisations who are hiring people within the following sectors: financial services, education, healthcare, government, security, charities, law and accountancy. However, only certain roles are eligible for a DBS check - please therefore see the DBS Guide to Eligibility for further information if necessary.  

A Standard DBS check can provide access to a range of different types of information held on the Police National Computer (PNC), including convictions, cautions, reprimands and warnings in England and Wales. 

Most of the relevant convictions in Scotland and Northern Ireland may also be included.
