Business Partners Fined after explosion

Partners of Mason Engineering were fined £4,000 each and were made to pay £1,171.15 each after North Allerton Magistrates found them guilty for breaching Section 2 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

North Allerton Magistrates heard how the explosion at Mason Engineering happened as they were transferring oxygen between pressurised cylinders. The partners had rigged up a make-shift hose fittng that was not designed for the high risk procedure.

A 48 year old worker was caught in the blast and suffered life changing injures when he was blinded in his left eye.
